the town of Metropolis

Another missive and more photos from John in the C of A. (I don't know what state Metropolis is in - Illinois?):

Attached photos of the town of Metropolis on the way to Coffeen. This is where I met the old man that reminded me of Tucker. He had plans to build a Superman theme park. They are having a superman festival in June and are going to try and set the McGuiness book of records for the most superman in costume in one
place.

Two pictures are full resolution, You have to blow them up to get a the right detail. Note slot machines in the gas station store and superman on bathroom door.

"This is no joke ..." (Coffeen)

This is the latest correspondence from John, who is looking for a place to live. Rather charming, no? I love "This is no joke ..."

"Robin from work gave me a lead on a place to live in Coffeen. This is not a joke see attached picture of one bedroom apartment. Do you think we can get Jubilee up the stairs? I am going to look at it tomorrow. I was told that the last resident would grill on the front portch! Down stairs is a antique store and it is on the main drag of Coffeen."

215537.0

The worry of unemployment was beginning to weigh on us. John was ready to go, ready to work.
Despite all this, it was a little sad sending him off this morning. The mileage on his 1987 Jeep Cherokee reads 215537.0 He is heading back to the Center of America - Southern Illinois, not far from the place in Missouri where we were last year.

We don't know how long this will last. The plan now is for Jubilee and I to come out in late May or early June.

It feels very quiet and empty around here this Sunday morning.

Eric came over yesterday to help Dad get ready. He and Jubilee enjoyed a nap together ...
